What Steiner Actually Said:
Examining Steiner’s Educational Ideas Which Have
Manifested as White Centered Pedagogical Practices

Grimm’s Fairy Tales. Norse Myths. Parzival. Michaelmas. The list goes on. All are pedagogical content and practices we associate with Waldorf education, developed out of anthroposophy. The collective use of these stories and festivals have manifested as a Eurocentric and White-centric curriculum, counter to the spirit of social renewal that is a unifying intention in Waldorf education.

What did Rudolf Steiner actually say in relation to the educational ideas identified above? How might we understand these ideas in the context of a nation/continent beginning to reckon with it’s systemic racial injustice?

Join this monthly webinar as we examine some of Steiner’s educational ideas which have manifested as white centered pedagogy. Each month we will focus on a different topic, with individuals/groups who have deeply studied Steiner’s work offering a summary of what Steiner did or didn’t say on the particular topic. They will also offer their thoughts and ideas on how we can work with this today to dismantle White-centric practices.

This monthly webinar works in tandem with the monthly Reimagining Waldorf Pedagogy webinar.

These webinars will be recorded and will be available for viewing to anyone with access to the AWSNA Community Hub.

In addition, a repository of examples of Reimagining Waldorf Pedagogy will be built in the Hub. If you have an example(s), please submit the relevant information via this link.
